Activities!

Make your own Volcano!
10:30 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm

With a corn-starch volcano along with baking soda and vinegar, participants will create and erupt their own volcano while learning about the scientific principles behind their creation. They will be exploring concepts like physical and chemical changes, temperature, and gain an understanding of states and matter!

Microscopes

Participants dive into the microscopic world of cells to explore the fundamental building blocks of our Earth and the organisms calling it home.

Invisible Ink

In this activity, participants will use lemon juice to create messages in invisible ink that can be revealed by placing the message close to a heat source, causing the lemon juice to undergo a chemical change (oxidation) causing it to change color.

Build your own Catapult

Using popsicle sticks, duct tape, and rubber bands, participants will attempt to build a functioning catapult that can hurl a puffball projectile as far as possible in a test of their engineering capabilities.

FAQs

Why are no times listed under microscopes and invisible ink, and catapult building?
We'll have a table set up for the entire day, and kids can stop by anytime and join in whatever activity we're leading at the time! The Build your own Volcano activity will happen at 10:30 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm, and take approximately 20 minutes.
